Ok.  Well getting nowhere fast here today, really.  I could use an assistant to sit alongside me, someone who understands instantly when I say ‘I want it to do this and then I want it do do that’ .

I have started to develop another blog here http://rosiesmith-nazilliwrites.blogspot.com/ so that I can get things into some sort of perspective.  Yes really.

The new blog is going to be the showcase for my writing and this one will continue to be for my freelance writing clients and my Turkish living, travel etc… although I can see I am going to have to separate those at some point as well.. (where is that assistant? Making more coffee maybe.)

Anyway.  The long and the short of it is that the whole caboodle is up the creek at the moment so please, please, hang on in there.

If anyone is interested it is 110f degrees here today, the air con has been on all day and keeps blowing the curtain in my coffee and I have forgotten to eat, again.

On the plus side however, I met some really nice, clever and interesting people on Facebook  http://www.facebook.com/pages/Freelance-Creative-Writer/226303177401173#!/  last night and am getting to grips with this networking malarkey at last.

Where is that coffee ??

My first time entering this.. Flash fiction – 100 words to include three given.  A challenge for a lazy brain…

What is it with blogging then?

Have you ever really noticed the amount of time that is consumed once you set out on this slippery slope?

Me – I am a writer but since I started blogging it seems to be taking a back seat, and it shouldn’t because if I don’t write I don’t earn and I don’t eat and I certainly am never going to own a Gucci handbag.  Not that I particularly want one and besides I can buy a pretty impressive fake on the market here.

I am still pretty new to it and am still not getting it right, but I persevere.  My OH comes in after a fourteen hour shift and asks me what I have been doing all day and am I fed up?  Fed up!  Never.  I’ve been blogging canim (Turkish for darling – or there abouts).

He then wants to know what I have been ‘blogging’ about all day.  But I haven’t, have I because I have been ‘following’ and ‘networking’ and ‘linking’ without a clue what I am really at.

Of course once you go to one blog you find links to another, and then another and so it goes on.  I have well in excess of one hundred blogs saved to my favourite list which I haven’t even looked at yet, and once I do get round to it, I will be off again.

I accepted a new project today to write ten articles on Turkish cities so if you don’t see me on the ‘bloggoround’ tomorrow. you know where I am ‘

Happy blogging peeps..x

Sorry….

…not been around for a few days.  The heat is draining me completely.

I have been putting together an album for the Eski Foça pages and working on my poetry e.book.

Only two weeks until I visit the UK and all that rain – bliss.

Today I finished a project which involved reviewing poetry and first chapters, the works of so far unpublished authors and it never ceases to amaze me the amount of talent that is out there.

The husband and I are planning a road trip at the end of September and I am hoping to use this time to take a lot of photographs and write some articles regarding the parts of Turkey we visit.  We don’t have a plan as yet but high on the list of must visit is the House of the Virgin Mary at Selçuk –  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_the_Virgin_Mary  – a place I have wanted to see for a very long time.

Although I am over half way through my novel – The Third Virgin – (working title) -  I have found my muse going into overdrive the last few days and have ideas for two more, so busy times ahead and since my visit to UK will be laptop free there will be a lot of scribbling on the back of envelopes going on.

NaNoWriMo

Well that’s me signed up for November without a single idea in my head !

Rather than go into massive detail here take a look by following the link below.

Basically you have a month to write a 50,000 novel and you can’t start until November 1 when you write it as it comes, avoiding editing etc.

You can set your ideas out ahead of time (who wouldn’t) but you can’t get in to the site to post it until around the third week.

It’s not something to be afraid of.  There are no winners or losers – just a sense of achievement.

This little guy or gal has been following me around for a very long time as my icon or avatar in places I visit.  I actually have a great fondness for this picture.

We have become close simply because I could not make a picture small enough to use but guess what?  Today I ventured into one of those sites, you know the ones and the result is that you can now see the real me.

There is always of course the possibility that the monkey is more appealing to you.

It’s not just Twitter though is it that keeps you from doing what you should be doing which is writing and having incredible ideas.

How many of you have writing days like mine where you wake up and make the tea then wander slowly to your desk.  First it’s e.mails, then all the forums you post on, and then Facebook which somehow seems to be very time consuming.  You then go back to Twitter to follow links and see what the professionals are up to.

By now you just know you have to open whatever you are working on but you decide to just check your ‘to do list’ and find something that is deadlined for an hour from now so you have to close your document and get on with that.  But before you start you need another cup of tea and you should really take a shower.

So by now you have forty minutes to write two articles at five hundred words which you haven’t researched and know nothing about

When you write, do you take your self off to your own quiet space, clear your mind and focus?  Yes, most likely you do, on good days but on
bad days I bet your mind dissolves in to an ocean of words and letters that have absolutely no meaning.

How in the world are you going to concentrate and come up with a viable motive for young Jımmy blasting his dads brains out if you have one eye and a corner of your mind on your list for tomorrows shop in Tesco?

One of the best and simplest methods a writer can use to clear their mind is meditation.

Let’s face it, writing is hard work and fatigues the brain at the best of times so by taking time out to relax your mind and slowly train it to see clearly, through meditation, you are going to be able to release your creative flow from the daily interruptions that hinder it and lessen the likelihood of you closing your laptop and going off to do some gardening.

Meditation, to a certain extent, stretches and opens your brain.  It will enhance the minds ability to focus and think creatively.

You can bring your writing to life with the help of meditation.  It is an amazing tool that you can use at any time and in any place.

Meditation doesn’t have to be strict or played by any rules. You can do one minute of meditation, close your eyes and take some slow and deep breaths.

It will help clear your mind and bring fresh air to a stressed brain and there can be no doubt that a clear mind will make you more productive, more energized and put you in a place where you can open yourself up to the thoughts and ideas that were previously chasing themselves around in circles.

Alternatively you can take the decision to explore and travel the road of committed meditation, make it a part of your life style and daily routine, reach for it at times when you would normally reach for an aspirin, (or a large whiskey) and let it become part of who you are.

I am still having a quiet little fume about this.  The reason is that there are some really interesting projects that I would like to research and write in order to add them to my portfollio.

But once you get recognised as working for that sum of money then you are on ‘The Road to Hell’ as Chris Rea would say.

Not sure how many words I can write in an hour but I am certain that it would not add up to a viable per hour rate.

What's this all about then?
